Good news to all Filipinos in the US! Their favourite local albums will now be available anytime they wanted. The songs and full albums can now be downloaded via iTunes.

Tony award winner and Broadway superstar Lea Salonga, megastar Sharon Cuneta, balladeer Ariel Rivera and comedian Joey de Leon make up the lists of top local artists whose singles you can download for $0.99 per song or their full album for $9.99. One can also choose from the wide catalog of Sony Music Philippines’ artists: from legendary bands Eraserheads, Wolfgang, Razorback, The Dawn, South Border, Greyhounz, Color It Red; today's hottest bands 6cyclemind, Callalily, Cueshe, Pupil, Itchyworms, Brownman Revival, Duster, Roots of Nature and Letter Day Story to current local stars like KC Concepcion, Lovi, Gloc9, Gian Magdangal and Jimmy Bondoc.

 
Pupil Band Chosen as Opening Act

Out of a possible ten local bands suggested by Splintr.com, the honor ultimately went to Pupil, Manila's very own to be the opening act by the international rock band, Nine Inch Nails, coming to Araneta Coliseum this August 5, 2009.

Splintr.com recently confirmed that Pupil was chosen as opening act for Nine Inch Nails, coming to Araneta Coliseum on August 5. Upon the announcement, the band had this to say: NIN playing in Manila is beyond awesome; we are excited as hell to open for them.

 
RP's Rock Idols Unite to Call for Change

To participate more actively in preparations for the 2010 presidential elections, three of the country's most popular rock vocalists are joining forces with ABS-CBN's "Boto Mo, iPatrol Mo: Ako ang Simula."

Singer-songwriter Rico Blanco, Imago vocalist Aia De Leon, and Sandwich frontman Raimund Marasigan collaborated in "Ako ang Simula," the theme song of ABS-CBN's election campaign, which calls on Filipinos, especially the youth, to register, vote, and make the 2010 elections work.

 
Filipina Singer Songwriter Played Shows in LA

Alfa Garcia, a Filipina, is set in making a splash in the music scene. A New York University graduate, the singer/songwriter has been writing her own songs since 1998 at the tender age of 12. After classical training in both piano and violin, she taught herself to play guitar using her grandfather’s old tablature book at the age of 13 and the rest as they say, is history.

Her piano and violin lessons led to a lifelong love of classical music, so much so that she joined the prestigious Children's Orchestra Society at the start of middle school and continued playing in different ensembles with the organization for seven years.

Charice recently premiered her new single, "Note To God," on "Oprah's Search for the World's Smartest and Most Talented Kids." The haunting and emotionally charged track was produced by the legendary David Foster and written by Grammy winner Diane Warren.
