During the 23rd Awit Awards held last Sept. 30 at SM Mall of Asia, "Upuan", a rap single performed by rapper-songwriter Gloc-9 and Jeazell Grutas of Zelle, won the Song of the Year award. The song defeated other nominees, that is "Lapit" - Yeng Constantino, "Always You" - Charice Pempengco, "As 1" - Gary Valenciano and Martin Nievera and "Nung Iniwan Mo Ako" - Sinosikat. "Upuan" describes the corruption in Philippine politics and its consequences to the people. The song also got the awards for Best Collaboration, Best Rap, and Best Engineered Recording. |

PULP Magazine's September issue celebrates modern rock of two bands which are currently being called as the most exciting outfits in the present music scene.
The first band is the all-female rock group General Luna which is composed of femme fatales: Vocalist Nicole Asensio (who formerly fronted rock outfit Crowjane); guitarist Caren Mangaran (a shredder who also plays in power metal group Sanctus); guitarist Audry Dionisio; bassist Alexis Montemayor; and drummer Bea Lao, who has pounded the skins for Pinoy rock legend Wally Gonzales. They are committed to make rock 'n roll a ladies' game once again. |

In a recent event in Greenwhich Pizza, lucky customers got treated to a special black tin box containing nearly all the Eraserheads albums. This aims to give a foretaste of their much anticipated album: "Eraserheads: Heads Set Collection." The tin box, with a cover illustration done by Arnold Arre and Graphic Design and Layout done by Cynthia Bauzon-Arre, includes almost all the Eraserheads albums plus DVD documentary, a book and a shirt. |

Basil Valdez, Vernie Varga, Joey Albert, Gino Padilla, Charlie Green and the Company (known as the powerhouse cast) are performing together for the first time in OPM Through the Years. The concert was produced by Viva Concerts and Events and sponsored by Mang Inasal. It will happen at the SMX, Mall of Asia on Saturday, July 17. The show will present the best of Filipino music from Basil’s breakthrough recording of Geoge Canseco's Ngayon at Kailanman in 1978 to Charlie's hit cover of the Hot Dog's Pers Lab this year. Roxanne Lapus will direct the prestigious show together with Egay Gonzales as the musical director. OPM fans will be witnessing the best songs of the past 30 years and the great performance of amazing talents. |
