Bossa nova singer, Sitti Navarro met the entertainment press last July 31, in Red Box in Trinoma to promote Contagious, her fourth studio album under Warner Music. In the album, the country's "Queen of Bossa Nova" redefined contemporary hits from Annie Lennox, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Sade, Sarah McLachlan, and other singers, to fit her unique singing style. Granting that she already has three successful bossa nova albums under her belt since her 2006 debut-Cafe Bossa, My Bossa Nova, and Ngayong Pasko, the singer still feels incomplete by her musical genre. Sittio said Warner that she still wants to have more which is limited by the arrangement, or the treatment of the song. But, she said that cannot verge out of the singing style in her current recording projects because bossa nova has its own limitations. |

Hale's new songs goes acoustic! From the works of the legendary singer- song writer, Rey Valera, inspired Hale to launch their latest album, "Kundiman." Champ, lead singer and song writer, said that Valer was their first choice from among OPM icons in picking a template for the Filipiniana sound he wanted for Kundiman. Kundiman is a concept album reminiscent of those churned out by recording artists during Valera’s time. The album, with eight songs, follows the singles-driven thrust of albums recorded in the 70s when producers would urge artists to save single materials they may have written for succeeding albums. The album packaging harkens back to turn of the century Philippines. The liner notes are worded in old Filipino. |
