From ABC's Philippine Idol To GMA's Pinoy Idol |

After GMA was awarded the rights to the franchise by Fremantle Media, Pinoy Idol, taking the place of ABC's Philippine Idol, is the second Idol franchise in the Philippines. During its New Year's Eve 2007 Presentation, GMA promoted this new local equivalent of the American Idol franchise as the first idol contest in the Philippines.Louie Ignacio, the director of SOP Rules and part of Pinoy Pop Superstar, is scheduled to conduct the first season of Pinoy Idol. Raymond Gutierrez, the twin brother of Richard Gutierrez, was selected by GMA 7 to host the said singing competition. Singer composer comedian Ogie Alcasid, multimedia artist Jolina Magdangal, and talent manager Wyngard Tracy will sit as judges. Pinoy Idol contestants are needed to take along a full body photograph and birth certificate. Applicants who are under 18 years of age must take along a signed parental consent. Everyone is needed to wear clothes formally to affect strongly. Pinoy Idol is scheduled to be aired as soon as the auditions are finished. Talented individuals who want to be a Pinoy idol must enter and pass the audition. It is a good opportunity to be a part of this prestigious singing competition.
