After showing their efforts as singers, Gian Magdangal, Richard Poon and Vince Camua can now be considered as Pinoy balladeers of today. There is no question about their singing their forte is ballad and it is good to know that they have a definite idea of what sounds great for them. Majority of their songs are covers but still, they all tried to put in something of their own in their CDs like a song they wrote or some unique arrangement. Here is the a little background of this new set of balladeers' career: - Love Tracks by Gian Magdangal. This is his first solo turn. He was with a boy group some years ago and he was discovered as a soloist when he made it as runner-up in the local talent show, Philippine Idol. His singing is the most powerful and versatile of all. He chooses songs from the 70’s and 80’s for his debut and made sure that these are all big local favorites.
- For You by Richard Poon. He is the most successful of this trio and this is his second CD. It also has the makings of a hit like his debut titled “I’ll Take Care of You.” Poon concerned the crooner market with that one and he keeps up the same light jazzy pace with his latest. More adventurous than either Gian or Vince, Richard surprises by taking on the Avril Lavigne biggie Complicated but gives the rocker a big band spin.
- Spells of a young Crooner by Vince Camua. Vince is the tyro among the trio but he is giving Poon stiff competition. He has the same big band sound and his own set of devices to get noticed. He has no composition in the CD but he has the oldie Rosalinda. How apt that Vince has now revived the song.
