Today's generation youths are born in the era of Playstations and other latest computer games. With this, youth are not anymore interested or they even don’t know luksong baka or Chinese garter, patintero, syato, nanay, tatay, or piko. These are some of Pinoy games that we are playing too long in the sun and also that games that the band Sandwich used to play. Now, Sandwich, composed of Raimund Marasigan on vocals, Diego Castillo on guitars, Mike Dizon on drums, Myrene Academia on bass, and Mong Alcaraz on guitars, reintroduces classic Pinoy games to the younger generation through mediums that they know best music and video! Sandwich came with the song “Betamax” with a concept of recounting Pinoy games. The band wanted to show that these are the games that they grew up palying and that kids can still play these games today. The song "Betamax" talks about how people lived before the start of modern-day gadgets like Ipod and MP3; how they only had Betamax (the very first video player in the market manufactured by Sony); and how Pinoy music had been influenced by artists whose names may no longer ring a bell to the Me Generation.
After completing the concept, the band work for the said music and its video. Some students from El Niño Montessori Swim Team from Quezon were asked to join the video. And this made the shoot even more entertaining for everyone! They just made sure that the kids actually played the game and though there was some minor acting involved, everything was as real as it got. [via mb.com.ph] |
