Mark Escueta, drummer and remaining original member of Rivermaya, was interviewed in an e-mail message about the legal troubles that happened to him and to his band.According to Warner Music Philippines, the group attended the album tour to organize and to endorse the band's latest studio album titled, Closest Thing To Heaven. We're ok! Masayang-masaya kami kasi nalampasan namin yung mga problema last year, Mark stated.
However not all problems have been resolved. At present, the band's name can still be heard in the news. They believe that the disorganized legal argument was done by their previous manager Lizza Nakpil. The problem arised in the ownership of the band's name and they heard that the royalty fees are not yet paid supposedly. Kakaibang experience itong legal stuff na ito pero madami naman kaming natututunan. Hayaan na natin yung mga kaso on the side, they will put Lizza Nakpil in her proper place. This year, we're back to doing what we should be doing which is making music and playing live. Thank God!
The uncertainty brought by the Rivermaya trademark ownership issue is one of the problems encountered by Rivermaya last year. This requires producers, venue owners, and advocates leaving the group untouched for fear of possible legal action. The group is back on track and ready to take the stage anew. [via pep.ph] |
