With the aim of promoting Filipino music, Original Pilipino Music (OPM) will conduct its singing search. Most Filipinos have their inborn singing talent and can perform all over the globe. The competition is named OPM @ PAGCOR 2. It is a nationwide singing search for the Total OPM Performer. Contestants should select songs from chart-topping hits and Pinoy signature songs. According to Philippine Amusement Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) AVP for Entertainment Bong Quintana, he will be one of the judges in semi-final qualifiers. The agency expects to produce better singers just like last year. The finalists represent Casino Filipino branches located in Tagaytay, Davao, Angeles, Bacolod, Cebu and Metro Manila. All of them should be prepared with their minus one.
The 14 finalists aged 18-30 will be competing tonight at 8 at the PAGCOR Grand Theater, Airport Casino Filipino. The finalists include Glory Laylo Salazar, Romabel Mangaring Princena, Kim Jomarie Arabejo, Alex Weill Jr., Arah May Rodriguez, Mark Ryan Tabag, Delmaica Papas, Marc Lyndon Nacua, Romeo Bacalso Jr., John Willace Tubalde, Jennifer Maravilla, Froilan Canlas, Kenny Padalla and Angela Dana Alegre. What happened to 2012 winner Joyce Tañaña and to the other finalists? Bong explained that they are faring in the live entertainment circuit. They perform in Casino Filipino branches and often have bookings outside Casino Filipino. Before the competition, all finalists attended talent-and-performance workshops. They were being taught on how the song was sang, how to express the message of the song to the audience, and the right attitude towards work. OPM and PAGCOR guide the finalists in their packaging and bookings.
The venture of OPM and PAGCOR aims to have a roster of talents just like in Las Vegas. [via philstar.com]
